A: This event is open to all ages and for individuals of any fitness level. It’s a great way to spend a Friday night with the entire family.
Q: How can I register?
A: You may register online via our homepage www.grandprix5k.com and click on the ‘Registration Link’ on the right side of the page. Registration fees are $25.00 before March 23; $30.00 for same day IF spots are still available.
Q: Can I register the day of the race?
A: Yes, you may register for the 5k on race day for $30.00 by cash or check if spots are still available.
Q: How much do children cost?
A: Children ages 6 and under are free. All other ages must pay the regular entry prices of $25.00 before March 23; $30.00 for same day IF spots are still available.
Q: Where does my registration fee go?
A: Your registration fee goes to the Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation to raise money for local spinal cure research.
Q: What happens if I register but am unable to participate?
A: The St. Petersburg Grand Prix 5k Walk, Run and Wheel-a-thon cannot offer refunds or transfer of entries to another person. Your registration fee will also go to the Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation.
Q: What time can I arrive for registration and race packet pick-up?
A: We will be signing-in participants starting on Thursday March 24 from 12pm-6pm at St Anthony’s Resource Center, 500 Dr. Martin Luther King Street N. (9th St. N.) Ste 200, St Petersburg, FL 33705. Packet pick-up will continue on Friday March 25 from 8am-1pm at St Anthony’s Resource Center, 500 Dr. Martin Luther King Street N. (9th St. N.) Ste 200, St Petersburg, FL 33705 and 3pm-6pm at Vinoy Park, 701 Bayshore Dr. NE St Petersburg, Fl 33701.We suggest that participants arrive at Vinoy Park at least one hour before the start of the event. Please keep in mind that you may have to fight traffic and may have to park a few blocks away from the starting line. Give yourself some extra time to make sure you get there on time!
Q: Where does the race start and finish?
A: The 5k event starts and ends on Bayshore Drive next to Vinoy Park in Downtown St. Petersburg. A detailed map can be accessed from the ‘Course Map’ section of the event Web site.
Q: Are jogging strollers allowed?
A: Yes, jogging strollers are allowed for this event.
Q: Do I have to participate in the entire 5k event, or is there a way to participate in a shorter event?
A: You may choose to only walk, run or wheel the St. Petersburg Grand Prix racetrack as part of a 5K or a shorter two-mile distance.
Q: Is there a cut-off time for the 5k?
A: Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg officials state that all participants MUST be off of the St. Pete Grand Prix race track by 7:30 pm.
Q: Why is there a time limit?
A: The St. Petersburg Grand Prix racetrack must be cleared so race officials can complete all the preparations for race activities on Saturday.
Q: Where should I park?
A: There are many city parking lots and on-street parking close to the start and finish line. A map of parking garages close to the start and finish area is posted under ‘Course Details’ section of the event Web site.
Q: What does my Free Friday Ticket for all track activities get me?
A: The IZOD IndyCar Paddock is open to the public on Friday fans can walk around and peek into the teams garages, catch a glimpse of the drivers on their scooters, get a few autographs and other racetrack activities.
Q: Can I wear my iPOD or MP3 player during the race?
A: Yes, you may wear a music device during the race, but the St. Petersburg Grand Prix 5k is not responsible for lost, broken or stolen items.
